Typical for those of us who are called to care for others, we tend to focus on the needs of our residents, clients, and patients, and forget to take care of ourselves first. Also, conflicting information from marketing companies, insurance representatives, and safety representatives can cause so much confusion that it is easy to succumb to analysis paralysis and do little or nothing. Fortunately, the steps to be compliant with the “rules” are simple. And the rules are also simple to find. This program provides administrators with the tools and techniques to implement essential disaster preparedness and workplace safety programs in an effective, streamlined manner. Administrators can also leave the program with the confidence that they know where to find what the real rules actually are that apply to them. This program is specifically designed to address the core of knowledge section on Management and Supervision of Staff.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this seminar, you will be able to:

• describe the components of a workplace health and safety program.

• identify criteria for mandatory reporting of work-related injury or illness.
• describe the three types of workplace violence.
• discuss the purpose of a Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS.
• describe elements of a workplace disaster preparedness program.
• discuss resident safety considerations.
