Description

California Statute and Regulation define the rules regulating the treatment of medical waste in the Community Care Licensed Facility. It is essential that Administrators have a working knowledge of these rules so as to ensure that specific regulations addressing the role of the direct care staff, as well as the scope of license of the Community Care Facility will be discussed. This program is specifically designed to meet the Core of Knowledge sections on Law and Regulations.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this seminar, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the Medical Waste Management Act (MWMA) as it applies to the Community Care Facility and the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly.
  • Identify categories of medical waste described in the MWMA.
  • Describe Title 22 regulations for the Community Care Facility and the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly that provide public policy on disposal of a resident’s unused medications.
  • Discuss the purpose and content of a waiver to Community Care Facility and Residential Care Facility for the Elderly regulations to allow for off-site disposal of medical waste.
