Description

The current workforce in the United States is composed of the most diverse individuals and generations in recorded history. Leading and managing Teams composed of willing and able Team Members is widely established in research literature as an optimally effective approach to care services. This course will address Generational differences, personality types, diversity, equity, and inclusion in a work Team, and strategies for success in Team Building. Essential to the success of Teams is the element of education and training. Also essential is the need to identify, evaluate, and address common barriers and resistance to effective teamwork. This is an advanced course on leadership and management in Team Building. Content will include contemporary concepts of leadership and management, leadership styles, and the role of continuous quality improvement in leadership principles. We will address benefits and drawbacks of assigning tasks and projects to a work team. We will conclude with strategies for addressing barriers and resistance to Team Work, and methods for designing and recruiting a Dream Team for the residential and community care setting. This program is specifically designed to address the core of knowledge section on Management/Supervision of Staff.

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this seminar, you will be able to:

• Describe Personality Types and how they relate to team building.
• Discuss Generational differences between Team Members and how they potentially impact Team performance.
• Discuss seven elements of Team Building.
• Discuss barriers to Team Work.
• Describe Team Member termination strategies for best success.
• Discuss strategies for designing and recruiting your dream team.
